In this paper, quality is investigated as the result of strategic decisions taken by the interpreter at every level of simultaneous interpreting (SI). Therefore a description and evaluation of quality in SI requires recognition of the strategic dimension of an interpreting performance under the given circumstances in which it takes place. The first part gives a brief account of the studies on SI strategies, while the last part concentrates on the relevance of interpreting strategies for the achievement of quality interpreting.
