Taking a set of memoirs (A. Benois, V. Sklovskij, E. Bonner) and tales (L. Andreev, F. Sologub, A. Bitov) as main points of reference, the article presents an analysis of the evolving concept of dacha in the light of both pre- and post-revolutionary childhood and the different views of children and adults about this specific space. In a children-oriented vision, the space of dacha can be metaphorically interpreted as an ideal place of initiation, maturation and shift into the adult world, whereas adults perceive dacha as the ideal place where they can recover a childhood-inspired, simple and delighted view of the world.
