Today Spanish is playing an increasingly important role as a second language. This is no novelty since, during the 16th and 17th century, Spanish was one of the world's leading languages. The present study focuses on Spanish as a second language and in particular on certain morphological aspects (i.e. word classes, articles, nouns and pronouns) described in 23 grammar books specifically addressing foreigners in the 1500s and 1600s.

Abstract

Today Spanish is playing an increasingly important role as a second language. This is no novelty since, during the 16th and 17th century, Spanish was one of the world's leading languages. The present study focuses on Spanish as a second language and in particular on certain morphological aspects (i.e. word classes, articles, nouns and pronouns) described in 23 grammar books specifically addressing foreigners in the 1500s and 1600s.
