This contribution is a preliminary presentation of some groups of frescoes that have been attributed to the II style and were recently discovered in Aquileia. Further research on wall decorations during the late Republican age in northern Italy could give room for new reflections on the utilisation of craftsmen and the link between Rome and the provinces, wherefrom important pictorial evidence originate.
