The optimization problem addressed in this paper is that of minimizing the maximum sidelobe level of linear aperiodic antenna arrays radiating a pencil beam directed at broadside and having an assigned beamwidth and (eventually) desired nulls. A uniform amplitude distribution is assumed for the array elements. A deterministic approach is proposed, and its performance is compared with that of a stochastic method of recent literature.
