The European Constitution, although obliterated from the political agendas after the referenda held in 2006, represents an enlightening document to understand what the EU is and what it aspires to become in the long run. For the geographer, it is a precious source to investigate the idea of the EU still carried on by many in the continent. The paper aims at highlighting the geographical and social identity of the EU mainly as it was conceived in 2003.
