The paper presents the development and application of a design tool for the parametric representation of hull shapes by means of splines in tension. The excellent fairness properties of these curves make their use extremely useful, mainly in the frame of an automatic generation of hull shapes for the optimization of given properties, among others the hydrodynamic performances. In the present implementation, these curves are built and handled in a multi-platform application called ParCAD, so that the user can define macro-parameters of the entire hull – lengths, areas, volumes, angles, global or local coefficients, … - or only some parts of it and control the hull curves shape in a fancy way making use of the ParCAD Graphical User Inter-face. In this paper a fore-body Ro/pax and an entire sailing yacht hull parametric models are also presented and discussed.

Abstract
In this paper a fore-body Ro/pax and an entire sailing yacht hull parametric models are also presented and discussed.Pubblicazioni consigliate
