Abstract
The coupling between roll and pitch motions has been studied starting from experimental results obtained from a scale model of a frigate in a severe beam sea. The application of a parameter identification technique allowed to discuss the suitability of several mathematical models to simulate the phenomenon. It appears that a single non-linear coupling coefficient is sufficient to have a satisfactory description of the effect of roll motion on pitch, while one term helps to fit the roll motion close to the roll peak.File in questo prodotto:
