From 1970 to 1990, 472 blood donors followed by immunohaematologicsl Center of Trieste have been diagnosed as HBsAg carriers. In 1990 has started a follow-up for monitoring and evaluation of natural history of the HBV infection. Studying our sample emerged a significant's alcohol consumption. These preliminary analysis suggest that a high consumpion of alcohol, if associated with the positivity of HBsAg, represents a major risk factor to develop chronical liver disease.
