The paper describes an application of speech processing technologies in a real environment and the result of a preliminary field trial with real users. The aim was to integrate various speech processing capabilities, provided by a dedicated system, with a small data base and to make it possible an enquiry via a standard telephone; both public and private networks have been used to test performances. Since the speech interface was the only way to access the data base, the experiment gave the opportunity to verify on field, both technical and ergonomic aspects.

Abstract
The paper describes an application of speech processing technologies in a real environment and the result of a preliminary field trial with real users. The aim was to integrate various speech processing capabilities, provided by a dedicated system, with a small data base and to make it possible an enquiry via a standard telephone; both public and private networks have been used to test performances. Since the speech interface was the only way to access the data base, the experiment gave the opportunity to verify on field, both technical and ergonomic aspects.File in questo prodotto:
