This paper aims at establishing a connection between public service interpreting and three basic pillars of democracy, outlined in Giovanni Sartori’s book “Democracy in Thirty Lessons” (2008). A special focus will be placed on three democratic values which are embodied by interpreters, which are: respect for the rights of minorities, mediation and equality.
