This paper focuses on the numerical modeling of SentryGlas(SG)-laminated reinforced glass beams. More specifically, it provides a parametric investigation into the effects of 1) the SG shear stiffness, 2) the glass fracture energy and 3) the steel reinforcement content, on the global behaviour of reinforced glass beams. This is done by means of a 2D model implemented in the finite element code ABAQUS. Interesting results were found in terms of load-displacement plots and qualitative crack patterns. Furthermore, a fairly good agreement with experimental results is demonstrated.

Abstract
This paper focuses on the numerical modeling of SentryGlas(SG)-laminated reinforced glass beams. More specifically, it provides a parametric investigation into the effects of 1) the SG shear stiffness, 2) the glass fracture energy and 3) the steel reinforcement content, on the global behaviour of reinforced glass beams. This is done by means of a 2D model implemented in the finite element code ABAQUS. Interesting results were found in terms of load-displacement plots and qualitative crack patterns. Furthermore, a fairly good agreement with experimental results is demonstrated.File in questo prodotto:
