The students with serious chronic illnesses, such as cancer, have a decrease in self-efficacy beliefs and in self esteem, associated with an attributional style which relies mainly on uncontrallable causes. So, the sick students think that something is going wrong in them and tend to isolate themselves and to invest less energy in learning process. All of this can cause the risk of failure in their studies. In order to make their comeback to school easier, they should be helped to achieve their scholastic success. This can be achieved by modifying in the learners an ineffective attributive style, increasing the level of persistence in the event of failure, and making them understand that success comes from its commitment.
