Abstract

The research goal is to develop a green-based multifunctional coating for the protection of ancient Roman frescoes exposed outdoor. This study defines a formulation based on green components that combine many of the relevant properties for fresco conservation, such as the antimycotic activity as well as hydrophobic features. The formulation is tested on ad hoc mock-ups, prepared following the Roman recipe to evaluate its performances.
