This paper aims at illustrating an overview of the eclipse and reawakening of Ancient knowledge both in Western and Eastern Arab and Muslim Empires. Focusing upon the leading role of translation movements in the Abbasid Baghdad’s House of Wisdom and the Iberian Toledo Escuela de traductores, the Author gives prominence to the positive impact of the ethnic and religious multiplicity of their main actors and the open-mindedness and social relevance of their patrons. He recommends more professional Academic translation courses, an “Arabasmus” project for students’ exchange, a brain gain against the actual Arab brain drain, more audiovisual cultural activities and more respect and awareness of neo-Arabic dialects.
