In contemporary dynamic business environments, employees face diverse and time-sensitive challenges, necessitating adaptability (Pulakos et al., 2000). Ambidextrous cognitive abilities, encompassing exploration and exploitation, enable individuals to navigate tasks with high variety (Rosing & Zacher, 2017). Ambidextrous individuals exhibit resourcefulness, multitasking, conflict resolution, and adeptness at handling job complexity (Birkinshaw & Gibson, 2004; Fiset & Dostaler, 2017; Mom et al., 2009, 2015; Bledow et al., 2009). This study adopts a cognitive approach, conceptualizing Individual Ambidexterity (IA) as the integration of explorative and exploitative capabilities (Mom et al., 2009). Few studies have explored the impact of IA on performance, with evidence suggesting a positive relationship, enhancing job performance by harmonizing adaptability, innovation, and efficient task execution (Kobarg et al., 2017; Zhang et al., 2020). Ambidextrous individuals' versatility and problem-solving skills are crucial for navigating complex and dynamic business environments, contributing to enhanced job performance.

Abstract

In contemporary dynamic business environments, employees face diverse and time-sensitive challenges, necessitating adaptability (Pulakos et al., 2000). Ambidextrous cognitive abilities, encompassing exploration and exploitation, enable individuals to navigate tasks with high variety (Rosing & Zacher, 2017). Ambidextrous individuals exhibit resourcefulness, multitasking, conflict resolution, and adeptness at handling job complexity (Birkinshaw & Gibson, 2004; Fiset & Dostaler, 2017; Mom et al., 2009, 2015; Bledow et al., 2009). This study adopts a cognitive approach, conceptualizing Individual Ambidexterity (IA) as the integration of explorative and exploitative capabilities (Mom et al., 2009). Few studies have explored the impact of IA on performance, with evidence suggesting a positive relationship, enhancing job performance by harmonizing adaptability, innovation, and efficient task execution (Kobarg et al., 2017; Zhang et al., 2020). Ambidextrous individuals' versatility and problem-solving skills are crucial for navigating complex and dynamic business environments, contributing to enhanced job performance.
