The contribution outlines a participatory design process that directly involves users in the development and creation of specialized smart boxes - discreet devices equipped with sensors capable of interacting with the surrounding environment, with the aim of making spaces safer and more welcoming for individuals with neurocognitive disabilities. The research is part of the BeSENSHome project (Interreg Italy–Austria 2021–2027) and aims to develop intelligent solutions for personalized environments, promoting well-being, autonomy, and social inclusion. A key element of the initiative is the co-design approach, embodied in the “my box” workshop, where young adults on the autism spectrum actively contribute to the design of objects tailored to specific sensory needs, combining functionality with aesthetic quality. The design process - from concept to prototype - involves the use of 3D printing and advanced technologies such as photogrammetry and 3D modeling, with a particular focus on using accessible materials and achieving seamless integration between technical components and inclusive design.

Abstract
The design process - from concept to prototype - involves the use of 3D printing and advanced technologies such as photogrammetry and 3D modeling, with a particular focus on using accessible materials and achieving seamless integration between technical components and inclusive design.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
