Through the chapter Interethnic violence in Italian schools: A marginal phenomenon? Giovanni Delli Zotti, Giorgio Porcelli and Ornella Urpis discuss the situation of interethnic violence in Italian schools, which are characterised by high ethnic diversity due to migration as well as traditional ethnic and/or linguistic minorities. Abstract
Results show that interethnic school violence is a relevant problem, but that schools are dealing with it by promoting peaceful coexistence and diversity. Pupils themselves recognize schools as places where a tolerant attitude towards diversity is generally promoted. However, some forms of school violence, such as cyberbullying, emerged as important problems and therefore regulations to cope with this issue also need to be adopted.Pubblicazioni consigliate
