This is an introduction to the 7th issue of the series Lage Landen Studies. It presents 8 of the most significant papers presented at the first conference of MediterraNed and Twelfth Congress of Dutch in the Mediterranean countries (University of Bologna, April 2014). Subjects of the papers: Dutch literature in a comparative perspective (modern poetry, immigrant literature, female literature) and linguistics (action and movement events in several Romance and Germanic languages, Turkish pre and postposition constructions, Spanish loanwords in modern Dutch).
