Abstract

This paper focuses on a possible evolution of the control architectures suitable for Integrated Power Systems in modern all-electric ships. In control systems there is a major trend in using information and telecommunication technology as general real-time operating systems and standard communication protocols. This trend leads a standardization at software and communication protocol level that is unavoidable considering the ever-increasing needs of integration of power electronics and control systems in shipboard Integrated Power Systems. Using Internet of Things protocol frameworks can improve quality and performance of controlled systems.
