This article explores the differences between two North-African military regimes. Egypt and Algeria have been selected thanks to the continuity in military interferences, interventions and dominance on the political system. However, also variations marked their political development. These differences emerged during crucial political crisis. How these differences, which are also considered as different way of regulation of the competition for power, will impact on the possibility to transit to democracy is open to question.
