With reference to the current problems of migration, the essay examines the philosophical and ethical-political implications of Ricoeur's notion of linguistic hospitality as a translation between host and guest, comparing them to Derrida's notion of unconditional hospitality. The essay outlines possible ways of hospitality enabling to enlarge the circle of fraternity in its tension with hostility, while considering the different conception of the genealogy of subjectivity defined by the two authors.
