The essay deals with the problem of the parental role in particularly difficult social conditions from the point of view of the international sociological literature that has placed it at the center of its analysis. It emerged that a first element to consider is the variety of experiences that are understood under the dual category of parenthood and poverty. Once this was clarified, it was then necessary to evaluate the studies related to public responses in terms of social policies that have gradually followed. A comprehensive picture emerged at the disciplinary crossroads between Sociology of the Family, Sociology of the Person, Social Work.
