The article analyzes the role of Peter Dajnko's manual Čelarstvo (1831) in shaping beekeeping, bees and honey as key Slovenian national attributes. His manual had a great influence on the development of beekeeping in Slovenia, as it was the second printed beekeeping manual in the Slovenian language and at the same time the first that was originally Slovenian. The work was created independently, as evidenced by the use of Eastern Styrian literary language, original Slovenian terminology and practical, transparent and communicative beekeeping advice, which the author drew from his own beekeeping practice.

Abstract

The article analyzes the role of Peter Dajnko's manual Čelarstvo (1831) in shaping beekeeping, bees and honey as key Slovenian national attributes. His manual had a great influence on the development of beekeeping in Slovenia, as it was the second printed beekeeping manual in the Slovenian language and at the same time the first that was originally Slovenian. The work was created independently, as evidenced by the use of Eastern Styrian literary language, original Slovenian terminology and practical, transparent and communicative beekeeping advice, which the author drew from his own beekeeping practice.
