The chapter explores the innovative use of comics as a medium for public engagement in scientific research and technological innovation. Drawing from the EnRRI (Enhancing Responsible Research and Innovation in the Bottom-up Co-creation of Science and Technology) project, the chapter presents a pioneering case study where a graphic designer was embedded within the research team and relevant societal stakeholders to co-create comic narratives for disseminating the findings and insights of the project. The chapter highlights the potential of comics in fostering public understanding, dialogue, and participation in scientific endeavours, leveraging their ability to blend visuals and narratives in the presentation of technoscientific contents. Moreover, it underscores the value of interdisciplinary collaborations and integrating artistic practices into scientific research, challenging traditional disciplinary boundaries. The EnRRI experience related to the integration of comics in the activities of research and public engagement demonstrates how participatory approaches, which include an active involvement of stakeholders and citizens, can shape technoscientific innovation to better align with societal needs and values. Ultimately, the chapter contributes to the growing literature on innovative approaches to science communication and public engagement, with a specific focus on the integration of comics in research activity.

Abstract
Ultimately, the chapter contributes to the growing literature on innovative approaches to science communication and public engagement, with a specific focus on the integration of comics in research activity.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
