Spaceports between development opportunity and environmental threat. The Criptaliae Spaceport case. The creation of a spaceport can contribute to innovation by paving the way for the use of new vehicles intended for transportation, such as drones, hyperdrones, satellites, and suborbital flights of people and goods, but it can also open the way to possible disasters caused by the activities carried out in the facility, illegal acts, and the danger of fire or explosions. The paper aims to analyse, through the Italian case Cryptaliae Spaceport, the great opportunity of developing a spaceport an existing airport and hypothesize a methodology for assessing the impacts in terms of sustainability.
