The German Romanticism emerged as a distinct response to the “Querelle des Anciens et des Modernes”, marking a period of philosophical and aesthetic reevaluation of modernity. Within this framework, the article explores several significant motifs that exemplify the connections and philosophical, as well as literary, continuities between the German Romanticism and French Symbolism. These motifs encompass the doctrine of creative imagination (vis imaginativa) and the concepts of signatures or sympathy in nature, which served as the foundation for the symbolists’ development of theories on correspondences and analogy. This comparative analysis delves into the historical impact and reception of three exemplary authors: Baudelaire, Baader, and Benjamin.

Abstract
The German Romanticism emerged as a distinct response to the “Querelle des Anciens et des Modernes”, marking a period of philosophical and aesthetic reevaluation of modernity. Within this framework, the article explores several significant motifs that exemplify the connections and philosophical, as well as literary, continuities between the German Romanticism and French Symbolism. These motifs encompass the doctrine of creative imagination (vis imaginativa) and the concepts of signatures or sympathy in nature, which served as the foundation for the symbolists’ development of theories on correspondences and analogy. This comparative analysis delves into the historical impact and reception of three exemplary authors: Baudelaire, Baader, and Benjamin.Pubblicazioni consigliate
