This second volume of the Baaderiana series, edited by Alberto Bonchino, presents Franz von Baader’s Youth Diaries (1786–1793), a key document of early German Romanticism. The diaries reveal Baader’s intellectual and spiritual development from medical and natural-scientific studies to a visionary synthesis of theology, philosophy, and mysticism. They illuminate his engagement with Herder, Lavater, and Saint-Martin, as well as with Enlightenment and Freemasonic ideas, and show the emergence of his critique of rationalism and his search for a unity of nature and grace. The critical edition offers a modernized text and detailed commentary, restoring these writings to their significance within the prehistory of German Idealism and Romantic self-reflection.

Abstract
The critical edition offers a modernized text and detailed commentary, restoring these writings to their significance within the prehistory of German Idealism and Romantic self-reflection.Pubblicazioni consigliate
