Abstract

Through the concept of tessellation — that is, dividing a surface into regular or irregular modules that fit together without overlapping — the project aims to rethink the south facade of the Sankar Kendra museum. To make the building more sustainable, the proposal is to integrate modern technology in the form of colored monocrystalline photovoltaic panels, combining the theory of architectural polychromy developed by Le Corbusier with the Indian chromatic tradition. The solar panels, with their modular geometries, can be conceived not as foreign elements, but as architectural tiles, each with its own energetic, material, and compositional function. Just as a mosaic constructs an image through the aggregation of fragments, so too do the panels construct a new functional and symbolic skin for the building.
