This essay reflects on the scientific and pedagogical outcomes of the experimental 2024-2025 inter-university design cycle. It investigates the cross-border urban condition of the Gorizia and Nova Gorica conurbation during their year as European Capital of Culture. The "Studio due" model is based on informality and self-organization, preserving the full autonomy of the seven involved laboratories. Rather than adopting a shared masterplan, the labs independently identified specific sites within the Transalpina railway yard as foundational project acts. Abstract

The research functions as a critical observatory on architectural pedagogy, focusing on the transmissibility of compositional methods. Methodological diversity is treated as a scientific resource, transforming the "mobile border" into a fertile pedagogical hotspot. A shared choral maquette at 1:1000 scale served as a "material diary" and common ground for morphological investigation. The resulting design "bestiary" reveals an archipelago of schools defined by their coherent yet distinct methodological stances. Ultimately, the essay promotes the "exercise of difference" as a platform for critical cross-verification and disciplinary advancement. .
