In recent years Albania has been characterised by social, political and economical instability; however some significant changes in the distributive system can still be identified. The paper analyses and evaluates the situation of the Albanian distribution system within the general economic context. In the first part the characteristics of living conditions and household consumption in Albania have been pointed out. In the second part the distribution system is thoroughly analyzed. First of all the historical evolution of distribution in Albania is presented. Furthermore the study investigates which are the main characteristics of the channels and the actors of distribution. Finally future perspectives of the distribution system of the country have been pointed out.
