Un'area polideformata nelle Prealpi Carniche: il Monte Broili e il Cuel dal Meloc

The Carnian Pre-Alps are located in the eastern Southern Alps characterized by the interference pattern between the Dinaric paleogene thrust belt and the Southalpine neogene one. The Broili Mt. and Cuel dal Meloc area presents spectacular evidences of structural geometries related to the two tectonic events. A structural evolution of this area is proposed: 1) tensional Mesozoic tectonics, with N-S normal faults; 2) SW-vergent folds and thrusts during the Mesoalpine Event; 3) S-vergent folds and thrusts during the first fase of the Neoalpine Event; 4) SE-vergent thrusts during the successive Neoalpine fases.
