Benign breast biposies are common in clinical practice, but they may have negative consequances: they have a cost, surgical outcomes may be associated with a bad cosmetic result and breast distortion due to the surgical scar may be misdiagnosed as sospicious for cancer at further clinical or instrumental examination. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the indication for open surgical biopsy of breast lesions resulting in a benign histologic report.

Abstract

Benign breast biposies are common in clinical practice, but they may have negative consequances: they have a cost, surgical outcomes may be associated with a bad cosmetic result and breast distortion due to the surgical scar may be misdiagnosed as sospicious for cancer at further clinical or instrumental examination. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the indication for open surgical biopsy of breast lesions resulting in a benign histologic report.
