In this paper several aspects on the use of Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) techniques for determining thermophysical and thermodynamic equilibrium properties are discussed. The effects of temperature and pressure on the capacity factor (Ki) are investigated in terms of partial molar quantities. The validity of the expression relating molar volumes and retention properties, strictly true only at the solvent critical point, has been verified also in conditions quite far from the critical poiint. This relation may be used to establish a direct connection between retention properties and binary interaction parameters of equations of state. Furthermore, a method, based on SFC, is described for determining diffusion coefficients of solutes in satisfying accuracy and accettable run time.

Abstract
In this paper several aspects on the use of Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) techniques for determining thermophysical and thermodynamic equilibrium properties are discussed. The effects of temperature and pressure on the capacity factor (Ki) are investigated in terms of partial molar quantities. The validity of the expression relating molar volumes and retention properties, strictly true only at the solvent critical point, has been verified also in conditions quite far from the critical poiint. This relation may be used to establish a direct connection between retention properties and binary interaction parameters of equations of state. Furthermore, a method, based on SFC, is described for determining diffusion coefficients of solutes in satisfying accuracy and accettable run time.Pubblicazioni consigliate
