The aim of this paper is to illustrate some of the major theoretical contributions to the analysis of drama translation. In particular, Bassnett-McGuire's earliest reflection on the double nature of theatre texts will be investigated. Pavis's 'concretizations' which a 'translation for the stage' must undergo will be then considered. Finally, Aaltonen's analysis on social, cultural and theatrical processes, which take place when dramatic texts cross borders, will be shown as "a reaction to the Other".

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to illustrate some of the major theoretical contributions to the analysis of drama translation. In particular, Bassnett-McGuire's earliest reflection on the double nature of theatre texts will be investigated. Pavis's 'concretizations' which a 'translation for the stage' must undergo will be then considered. Finally, Aaltonen's analysis on social, cultural and theatrical processes, which take place when dramatic texts cross borders, will be shown as "a reaction to the Other".File in questo prodotto:
