The problem of the stability of gas bubbles in a sound field has been investigated using a model for the motion of a nearly spherical bubble in a slightly viscous liquid. The radial motion amplitude and the pressure amplitude thresholds for the instability of the spherical shape have been obtained by the theory of parametric resonance. The comparison with available experimental data for resonant bubbles appears to be rather satisfactory.

Abstract
The problem of the stability of gas bubbles in a sound field has been investigated using a model for the motion of a nearly spherical bubble in a slightly viscous liquid. The radial motion amplitude and the pressure amplitude thresholds for the instability of the spherical shape have been obtained by the theory of parametric resonance. The comparison with available experimental data for resonant bubbles appears to be rather satisfactory.File in questo prodotto:
