Abstract

The effect of ultrasound cavitation of the kynetics of model reversible electrochemical reactions involving the redox species has been studied. The impact of the pressure pulses, generated by asymmetrically collapsing bubbles, on the rate of the electrochemical reaction has been analysed in the framework of the Marcus theory. The linear growth of the exchange current density (i0) with the ultrasound intensity (J) in the ln(i0) versus J^1/2 plot has been demonstrated.
