ln order to define the priority in new protection work of the Trentino district of S.S. 45bis "Gardesana Occidentale" a geoengineering study was performed allowed a better comprehensive hazard valuation. The geomechanical characterization carried out a geomorphological analysis, and defined homogeneous zones using index R.M.R. and G.S.I., localized the main unstable wedges, examined the possible kinematics movements and performed a comprehensive rockfall analysis, attained an hazard assessment of the area. The engineering characterization of protection works defined special schedules to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the existing one: rock shed, tunnels, rockfall barriers and draped meshes in order to decide upon the priority of new protection works.
