In the last century, and above all from the second half of the nineties, cognitive studies on sensorial and emo- tional experiences multiplied themselves, gaining them the attention of a number of different disciplines. This contribution doesn’t aim to discuss the international theoretical frame of the problem of human cognition, but intends to present an anthropological linguistic example of a concrete case study: that of the Kulango of Ivory Coast. It will be demonstrated how an accurate analysis of the use of those words which describe a sensory experience, can reveal a wider comprehension of the world. The same words can in fact be used in other contexts, with a metaphorical sense, and attribute positive or negative qualities to subjects or situations which are very distant from sensory experience itself.

Abstract
In the last century, and above all from the second half of the nineties, cognitive studies on sensorial and emo- tional experiences multiplied themselves, gaining them the attention of a number of different disciplines. This contribution doesn’t aim to discuss the international theoretical frame of the problem of human cognition, but intends to present an anthropological linguistic example of a concrete case study: that of the Kulango of Ivory Coast. It will be demonstrated how an accurate analysis of the use of those words which describe a sensory experience, can reveal a wider comprehension of the world. The same words can in fact be used in other contexts, with a metaphorical sense, and attribute positive or negative qualities to subjects or situations which are very distant from sensory experience itself.Pubblicazioni consigliate
