Drawing on Alessandra Melloni's essay, "Palabras, palabras, palabras... Formas de habla en la telenovela", in which she analyses the spoken language of Latin American Soap operas, I will focus on the so called "neutral" variety of Spanish. This is a variety which is typically used in mass media because it is not geographically or socially marked. I will consider it as a special case of rewriting/intralinguistic translation, thus I will discuss why the use of such variety does not allow the creation of reality effects and enunciative illusion.

Abstract
Drawing on Alessandra Melloni's essay, "Palabras, palabras, palabras... Formas de habla en la telenovela", in which she analyses the spoken language of Latin American Soap operas, I will focus on the so called "neutral" variety of Spanish. This is a variety which is typically used in mass media because it is not geographically or socially marked. I will consider it as a special case of rewriting/intralinguistic translation, thus I will discuss why the use of such variety does not allow the creation of reality effects and enunciative illusion.File in questo prodotto:
