The article analyses Henri de Régnier’s story "Le Veuvage de Schéhérazade" (1926; 1930) and the dialogue "Entre elles" (1930). These two rewritings of the "Thousand an One Night" are worthy of critical consideration in their being traditional and innovative at the same time, in so far as the revision of the narrating woman’s myth is related with the crisis of the poetic word and the necessity of learning to listen.
