The Rio Resartico Mine was an important resource for Friuli since the end of the nineteenth century and throughout the first half of the twentieth century. Geological as well as geochemical characteristics of the deposit - exploited for the bituminous levels which lie within the Dolomia Principale (Main Dolomite) - are proposed here. The history of the mine and the exploration carried on fifty years after its closing are also described.
