Abstract

I thank Carli for his comments in regard to our editorial titled “Why Perform Dermoscopy?”1 He argues that there is currently a lack of sufficient evidence demonstrating an improved detection rate of melanoma by dermoscopy compared with clinical examination. Given that dermoscopy aims to assist clinical examination and not replace it, one has to question, first, the “evidence” of a clinical examination and, second, the evidence on dermoscopy.
