In this paper, I examine some implications of Parfit’s position on temporal neutrality for moral theory. The temporal neutrality is for Parfit one of the implications of the theory of hedonism of the present mental states. I argue that the hedonism of present mental states is not so much a completed ethical theory but a form of skepticism towards universalistic or generalistic positions in ethics.

Abstract
In this paper, I examine some implications of Parfit’s position on temporal neutrality for moral theory. The temporal neutrality is for Parfit one of the implications of the theory of hedonism of the present mental states. I argue that the hedonism of present mental states is not so much a completed ethical theory but a form of skepticism towards universalistic or generalistic positions in ethics.File in questo prodotto:
