Passions are not feelings to which we have access only through a phenomenology devoid of relationships. Passions, especially indirect ones, on the contrary, exhibit connections not so much between analytically distinguishable parts and connected only contingently, but rather between elements - causes, objects, ideas aroused by the imagination in the mind - which are naturally connected.

Abstract

Passions are not feelings to which we have access only through a phenomenology devoid of relationships. Passions, especially indirect ones, on the contrary, exhibit connections not so much between analytically distinguishable parts and connected only contingently, but rather between elements - causes, objects, ideas aroused by the imagination in the mind - which are naturally connected.
