El formato populista y la democracia

In this essay I try to achieve three objectives. The first is to point out the drawbacks plaguing the definitions of populism denounced, among others, by Takis Pappas, in his book Populism and Liberal Democracy (2019). The second one is to show how my book Come internet sta uccidendo la democrazia (2020) tries to remedy some of such drawbacks. The third objective is to suggest that the central thesis of my book – current populism is a political format suitable for today’s media system – could represent a new approach to populism studies.
