The chapter highlights the pragmatic characteristics, dealing with the two languages in contact, i.e. Slovenian and Italian in the ethnically mixed area of Slovenian Istria. The outcomes of the pragmatic research presented the importance of the intercultural pragmatics in teaching Slovenian and Italian as a second/foreign language. In the final part of the chapter the teaching emphases can be found.
