By delving into the Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian mainline historiographical perspectives centered around the aftermath of Tito’s death, Milošević’s rise to power and the dissolution of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, the first half of this article offers a summary of the contrasting narratives that fueled the destruction of the country. The following part deals with the erasure and removal of its traces and the national policies of downplaying and reclaiming the communist and Yugoslav legacy between Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. Yugonostalgia, however, continues to be relevant since the void left by the breakup of the former state is still being felt.

Abstract
By delving into the Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian mainline historiographical perspectives centered around the aftermath of Tito’s death, Milošević’s rise to power and the dissolution of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, the first half of this article offers a summary of the contrasting narratives that fueled the destruction of the country. The following part deals with the erasure and removal of its traces and the national policies of downplaying and reclaiming the communist and Yugoslav legacy between Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. Yugonostalgia, however, continues to be relevant since the void left by the breakup of the former state is still being felt.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
