This article delves into the different approaches to interpretation training at the University of Trieste and KU Leuven. While both universities offer a master’s program in interpretation and collaborate closely through joint training initiatives to maintain teaching quality, there are significant differences in terms of course content. These differences primarily centre around the theoretical underpinnings of interpretation studies, note-taking methods, and the integration of emerging technologies in the curriculum. This contribution seeks to explore the case study of the pioneering example of integrated interpreting training between KU Leuven and the Dutch section at IUSLIT Department in Trieste, to assess how well the training equips students for an ever-evolving job market. To substantiate the qualitative considerations regarding the curricula, the results of a survey conducted among the SSLMIT alumni from Trieste and the Master of Interpreting at KU Leuven will be presented.
