Given the important role that arithmetic word problem-solving skills play both in educational settings and daily life, alongside the frequent difficulties children face in this mathematical domain, there is a justified need for a deliberate focus on word problem-solving in the treatment of mathematics difficulties. This chapter provides an overview of existing research on arithmetic word problem-solving interventions for students with mathematics learning disability (MLD), with a focus on primary education. In fact, we argue that early intervention is crucial in addressing these difficulties effectively. Firstly, we will discuss the cognitive abilities, both domain-specific and domain-general, involved in arithmetic word problem-solving. Following that, we will describe the challenges that MLD students face when it comes to arithmetic word problem-solving. Finally, we will explore various intervention possibilities for children with MLD or those at risk of developing MLD.

Abstract
Finally, we will explore various intervention possibilities for children with MLD or those at risk of developing MLD.Pubblicazioni consigliate
